Just yesterday, finishing off a speaker proposal for a conference I included an indication that I would set up a twitter account for the proposed session - and have in fact done that. Your post makes me wonder whether that was a smart move, a dumb one, or a bit of both. Even if I feel I can go with the anarchic flow, is it fair to ask other panelists to do so? I'm hoping more people will share their experiences and opinions about having a dedicated @mysession account for conference events.
