Doing a Keynote on Social Media ROI for Tools Week

November 17th, 2009

20learn-600

From November 16-21st the folks over at the social media academy are hosting an online conference called “tools week.”  The conference is bringing together folks from various aspects of the social media space to address things such as best practices, strategies, and measurement.  The entire event takes place online so you have no excuse not to join!  Speakers include folks such as:

  • Bob Thompson of Customer Think
  • Frank Eliason from Comcast
  • Connie Bensen from Techrigy
  • Margaret Francis from Scout Labs
  • and many more

On Wednesday November 18th I’m going to be delivering the keynote on social media ROI.  I’m going to approach this from multiple angles and hope to shed some more much needed light on this topic.  I have 30 minutes which isn’t nearly enough time to cover the ROI topic but I’m hoping I will be able to provide attendees with a lot of valuable information.

Here are some of the topics I am hoping to cover:

  • defining ROI and impact
  • types of ROI and impact
  • understanding the ROI number
  • building an ROI foundation
  • short term vs long term strategy
  • business challenges
  • technology challenges
  • requirements from enterprise companies

If you would like to find out more about the event or register then please visit the social media tools week website.

Hope to see you there!

October 30th, 2009

I had the opportunity to write an article for MediaPost yesterday titled: “Is the Promise of Social Media Enough? What About ROI?“ The premise for the article is that social media is clearly changing how businesses can do business, but is this promise of change enough for companies to really adopt social technologies?  Should [...]

When you really start to think about social media and start to listen in to what “consultants” are telling their clients to do you’ll notice a pattern.  The pattern is that most companies are told they need to go on Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, Youtube, and that they need a blog.  Then, they are [...]
