In case you haven’t noticed this entire website has been completely reworked and redesigned thanks to my friends at Blue Sail Creative; the same folks that did the new website for my company Chess Media Group. I’m very excited with the new look and feel for the site and would love to hear what you think about it. The new website design is supposed to accomplish a few things:
- Integrate a travel section into the site to share my stories and experiences and let you share yours
- Increase the amount of interaction and comments, I really want to here more from all of you
- Make everything look and work properly, many of you may have noticed some of the design flaws on the previous design and on the back end there were definitely functional flaws
- Include more information about me and what I’m up to, such as speaking events and travel photos
- Add a speaking page for folks that are interested in having me speak at their event
There are quite a few new additions to the site so allow me to give you a quick tour:
- I added a small about section into the sidebar so people can get a quick idea of who I am and what I do
- Added upcoming events into the sidebar
- Included the book I co-wrote with Josh Peters into the sidebar
- Added a newsletter which is something new for me, I’m hoping to include both travel and social business content
- There is a new speaking page in the main navigation section
- There is also a new travel section which has slightly different features in the sidebar such as flickr photos, a list of countries I’ve visited, and upcoming travel plans
I’ve gone through many design and color change options with Blue Sail Creative and I can honestly say that I feel this design is absolutely fantastic; it does a great job of integrating both social business and travel. If you are looking to have a new site designed or developed be sure to check out Blue Sail, tell them “Jacob” sent you. So there you have it, welcome to the new JMorganMarketing.com website!
I’d love to hear your thoughts and ideas on what you think about the new site. For those of you who don’t remember what the old site looked like, here you go:

Well actually one year and a few weeks, the first post I did here was back on Feb 2, 2008 and was titled, “social media marketing is a privilege.” When that post first went up I had exactly 0 readers, 0 rss subscribers, and 0 anything else you could think of. I thought now would be a good time to share some of the stats from my blog.
This blog has consistently received double digit month over month growth which I think is absolutely fantastic. My traffic levels are still nearly nowhere near where I would want them to be, but we’re getting there. By all means this blog really is still a baby, but it’s going to sky rocket (hopefully with your help), I promise Here are some quick stats.
- this blog has 370 posts
- 1,440 comments blog comments
- top traffic sources are: google, stumbleupon, twitter
- most of the visitors to this site are using firefox
- the top 3 geographical visitors are: US, UK, Canada
- currently 630 RSS subscribers
- currently receive around 200+ direct visitors a day (has gone as low as 75 to as high as 600)
- received around 20k+ views through syndication channels such as socialmediatoday.com
- visitors spend an average of 1 min 30 secs on the site
I consider these to be absolutely great numbers for only being around for a year. There are a lot of things I want to start doing on this blog such as discussing startups, putting up video posts, giving out weekly social social media scenarios, etc. This is all something I am going to start doing soon.
Looking at my analytics from a macro level really helped me see the growth and potential for this site. It’s easy to get caught up in the daily or weekly stats, but I encourage all of you to trend your analytics over a macro/lifetime period. You may be quite surprised/impressed with what you find.
So what do you think of the stats? Is there something else you want to know that I haven’t included, just let me know.
Thank you everyone for continuing to visit my site.

Since we are beginning a new year I thought I would kick things off with a new site design. Not everything is up and running yet and there are still a few bugs that need to be fixed; but for the most part this is the new site. There are a couple of things that [...]
