Friday’s Food for the Soul, Never say Never

Don’t say you are never going to do something
Don’t say you are never going to try something
Don’t say you are never going to meet someone
Don’t say you are never going to succeed
Don’t say you are never going to fly
Don’t say you are never going to accomplish something
Don’t say you are never going to remember something
Don’t say you are never going to change
Don’t say you are never going to go somewhere
Don’t say you are never going to cry
Don’t say you are never going to hope
Don’t say you are never going to wish for something
Don’t say you are never going to believe

Never limits your possibilities
Never makes you short sighted
Never lasts your whole life
Never restricts and limits you
Never will make you regret
Never is wrong

Never say Never

Social Media, Social Networking, Web 2.0…WTF?

wtf catAre you using social media platforms to social network? Or, are you using social media platforms for social media marketing? Or perhaps you are using web 2.0 to socially market your social media platform for social networking to maintain active in the web 2.0 space?

Does this sound a bit confusing? Good!

Anyone else want to poke themselves in the eye with a bamboo shoot every time they hear all the different web 2.0 words?  I mean it’s one thing if we had some consistency but it seems like we are just all over the map!

Friday’s Food For the Soul (What if…?)

what ifSo this week I have been doing a lot of “what if” thinking. I think it’s actually pretty healthy to sit down every once in a while and think about the possibilities, the options, and that “what if’s” of life. There is the classic “what would you do with a million dollars question”. My thoughts were more geared toward, what would you do if your company expanded rapidly? What would you do if your company failed? What would you do if you needed to raise money? I also like to think a bit more abstractly and vaguely as well, “what if you had to move to China?” What if you never used computer again?”

Friday’s Food for the Soul (Investing in Yourself)

always invest in yourselfA lot of people go through life fearing risk. It’s not hard to see why either, risk is a big thing. You can lose a lot and you can gain a lot, but either way you learn something. Now, I’m not talking about the risk that goes into gambling, I’m talking about the risk that goes in to betting on yourself. You know, a while ago I was very much interested in the stock market, I actually came quite close to being a broker a Morgan Stanley, but then one day, I saw the branch manager come into the office and let several of the employees go, one of which hired me. This made me think and then I realized, why do I need to invest in somebody else?

Friday’s Food for the Soul, Groundhog Day

groundhog day image, movie with bill murrayOne of my favorite movies is “Groundhog Day” with Bill Murray. For those of you not familiar with the film, the premise is rather simple. Bill Murray is a rude grouchy fellow who is very inconsiderate of other people. One day Bill Murray wakes up to find that he is reliving the same day over and over; Groundhog Day. This is Bill Murray’s punishment for being rude and inconsiderate. As the film progresses we see how Bill Murray’s attitudes towards people changes. I am not going to spoil the ending but if you have not seen the film, I highly recommend it. I was just thinking about this film and it made me wonder…
