One of Jacob’s greatest passions is Chess, hence the name of his company Chess Media Group. Jacob is the Co-Founder and King of Chess Media Group, a social business consultancy that is focused on two key practice areas:
- Collaborative Workplaces- Helping companies understand how they can use social tools and strategies to collaborate internally to meet business objectives (enterprise 2.0)
- Social Customer Communities- Helping companies understand how they can use social tools and strategies externally to meet business objectives through relationships with customers.
Jacob’s new book, Twittfaced – Your Toolkit for Understanding and Maximizing Social Media was published in October 2009 by Clay Bridges Publishing. Twittfaced was entirely co-authored through online collaboration. Jacob is also an adviser for Biz 360 and for Red Chair Group.
Jacob’s blog is ranked as one of the top 100 most influential marketing and advertising blog in the world by AdAge and Jacob has been quoted by the Wall Street Journal and contributes to Marketing Profs, Zdnet, and Media Post. Jacob has also been recognized as one of the most influential Enterprise 2.0 bloggers by Cloud Ave and is a fellow for the Society for New Communications Research.

Prior to forming Chess Media Group Jacob ran an SEO consultancy where he helped clients such as Coremetrics and Salesforce achieve top search engine rankings for target keywords. Jacob was also the CMO/Founder of a startup in the social media space and has worked for a full service marketing agency on developing search and online marketing strategies for brands such as Adobe, Conde Nast, and Sandisk.
Jacob has a business background which means that he is able to speak the same language as senior level managers and executives. Jacob graduated with honors and has a dual B.A. in Business Management Economics and Psychology from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
