Something Wrong With Gmail?
Lately I have been receiving a lot of Gmail 502 errors, not only that but I am also having trouble sending e-mails. Here is what the error looks like:

We all know the problems that twitter is having with staying online and after continued twitter error messages, well, I start to think that other popular internet services may be suffering from “technical” errors. Now, of course Google is a much larger entity so hopefully they can get their act together.
I have found that the best solution is usually to just close the gmail application and then restart it, you may have to do this several times but eventually gmail gets back online.
Anyone else experiencing these errors?

Yougotbeer.com, Buy Someone a Beer Online, and They can Drink it Offline!
Ah, good ‘ol Sundays, time to sit back relax and enjoy my beer that my friend sent me from 2,000 miles away…online. That’s right it’s just like the title says, you can buy someone a beer online and they can redeem the beer in person at a nearby bar. The site is called www.yougotbeer.com and the concept is simple. Yougotbeer is working with many bars across the country so that participants can buy and redeem their beers. If I want to buy someone a beer that lives out of state, I just log on, purchase the beer, and then my friend receive an i.d. that they can enter on the site in order to reddem their gift card or gift certificate.
Per their site:
- Just enter the name and e-mail address of someone you would like to buy a beer along with a personal message. You can even schedule the send date.
- With each beer you buy someone at YouGotBeer.com, your recipient will get a gift card or gift certificate so they can enjoy some BEER on you at one of the listed bars/restaurants.
The concept is relatively simple, but as far as I know, nobody has done this before. Apparently the site has been live since 2005, so it’s still relaively new. Try it out!
Anybody want to buy me a beer?

Simple Way to Monitor Your Brand Online
Many people don’t know how easy it can be to monitor a particular brand, person, or company, online…for free. I have two words for you, Google Alerts. Google Alerts allows you to input a desired keyword or phrase that you want to monitor, say for example “Nike” or “John Smith.” Google will then send you a daily e-mail alert letting you know where that particular word or phrase was mentioned. Then, you can visit the particular site that mentioned your keyword or phrase and see what exactly is being said. So why would you want to know if somebody else is talking about you online?

Friday’s Food for the Soul, Shel Israel, Loren Feldman, and Knowing When to Stop
So yesterday, I decided to show the video of Loren Feldman’s “technigga” and opted not to discuss the whole issue of Shel Israel Vs Loren Feldman. If you want more information on that then read this on Shel’s blog, this on blogherald, check out this friendfeed debate, or browse around Google, I’m sure you will find plenty of information. Well, today I would like to chime in with my 2 cents, but I want to address this from a more general standpoint and not focus too much on who said what, etc. I respect both Shel Israel and Loren Feldman, they are both smart guys. I want to address this from a “human” angle.
