An impressive new visual search technology called ViPR is going to allow people with an iphone to take pictures of photos, movies, books, or cds. The photo will then be sent to a sever and information will be relayed to the user along with links to online videos and iTunes music store. Wow! All of this is supposed to happen by June according to the article on Gizmodo.

What is Your Technographics Profile?

Here is a neat little quiz you can take to see what technographics category you fall under. Found this on the SocialTnT blog, so thanks Chris!

Looks like I am a creator! (note there are supposed to be little red bars in each section but for some reason it doesn’t seem to be working for me)

Discover Your Groundswell Social Technographics Profile

Your Result: Creator

With all the blogging and video making you do, I’m surprised you had time to take this quiz. Whether podcasting or maintaining a website, the amount of content you create makes your Groundswell Social Technographic group a valuable target for social media marketers. As a creator, you join an elite 18% of the US online population. Now turn off the computer, your family misses you.

Josh Bernoff and Charlene Li recently created the Forrester technographics profile tool that let’s you analyze your target users. This tool is quite valuable, especially if you are at the early stages of creating your social media strategy. It’s important to know what category your target audience falls under. If you are looking to create a social media strategy for seniors and then find out that most seniors are only spectators in the social media space, then maybe you should rethink strategy. If however, you find out that seniors are among the most active group of social media creators and participators, then you can expect a lot of activity. Of course it’s a bit more detailed then my simple example illustrates, but I’m sure you understand how valuable this tool can be.

There are some great studies for this tool in the new book “groundswell,” (written by Josh and Charlene). If you haven’t read the book yet or are considering purchasing it, please be sure to read my review. If you have read the book then I would love to hear your comments.

Thank you for reading, please share this blog if you like the content!

The Most Successful People Have One Thing in Common

What do you wake up in the morning? Think about this morning, did you wake up because you needed to go get a paycheck or did you wake up because you were going to do something that you love doing? What drives you? I mean really drives you and pushes you?

The most successful people in the world have one thing in common; they are all passionate about what they do. You take out passion from the equation and all the successful people will lose much of what they have. Are you passionate about what you do?

How are You (or your company) Using Social Media? (linkedin question)

Recently I posted a question on Linkedin, this is what it said:

“I am always curious to hear stories and case studies (good or bad) from companies (or individuals) that use social media. Did you increase brand awareness through facebook? Perhaps you were able to peak interest in a product via twitter. Maybe you used flickr to get people around the world to take a picture with your product. I am avid proponent of social media and quite entrenched in the field. I am currently working (and consulting) on a few exciting projects which inspired me to reach out to all of you. Let’s here your stories good and bad!

You can connect with me on twitter (among other places) at: http://www.twitter.com/jacobm

Interview with the CEO of LifeLenz, Dennis Stack

Lifelenz logo

Recently I conducted an interview with the CEO/Founder of Lifelenz, Dennis Stack. Lifelenz is a social media platform dedicated to capturing life’s stories. Those of you reading this blog that understand and believe that social media is about connections and relationships, will appreciate what Lifelenz is all about. Lifelenz goes beyond traditional social media because Lifelenz allows you to get emotionally involved and connected with other people and their stories. If I had to define social media philanthropy, I would do so with one word…Lifelenz.

After going through a few profiles I was hooked, these are real people with real stories, it doesn’t get more interesting and emotional than that.

What’s your story…?
